Q: What is ‘OEM’?
A: OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. An OEM cartridge is manufactured by the same company as your printer.

Q: What is the ‘Yield’?
A: The "yield" refers to the number of pages you would expect to be able to print with your cartridge. It is generally quoted with the assumption of an average 5% ink / toner coverage of your pages – this is based on a standard letter, however, if you’re printing photos, your coverage may be as high as 75%. Therefore, note that page yields may vary based on factors such as machine model, media, print mode, print file type and print applications.

Q: What is a 'Compatible' cartridge?
A: Compatible cartridges are non-OEM new cartridges. They are made by a third party factory according to the OEM specifications. We use only reputable third party manufacturers whose products have been well tested.

Q: What is a 'Remanufactured' cartridge?
A: Remanufactured cartridges are cartridges that are disassembled after use, parts replaced or cleaned, refilled, reassembled and tested before sold to customers.

Q: Tell me about LaserFuture’s printer cartridge remanufacturing process?
A: We stand out from other cartridge recyclers in our focus on our workmanship and detail so that you, the customer, get "as new" quality from our remanufactured cartridges. This is how we do it:

Inkjet cartridges
Our remanufacturing process involves more than just refilling the cartridge with ink. Where the cartridge contains a print head, we clean the print head with ultrasonic equipment to ensure the ink holes are not blocked. We produce test prints with every single remanufactured cartridge to prove that the desired quality has been achieved.

Toner cartridges
Toner cartridges contain a high amount of technology and various working and moving parts, all of which must be checked to ensure excellent printing results. While some recyclers ignore these parts and simply fill up the used cartridges with toner, we remanufacture them. This involves disassembling the cartridge, cleaning and/or replacing parts including the drum and the wiper blade, refilling the toner and reassembling the unit under strict quality control. Just as with the inkjet cartridges above, we produce test prints from all of our remanufactured toner cartridges to prove their quality.

Q: Are Remanufactured cartridges as good as new cartridges (eg: can they print as many pages)?
A: Yes. We remanufacture all cartridges to OEM specifications to ensure you get a 100% quality equivalent.

Q: Why should I buy Remanufactured cartridges?
A: To save you cash. The main advantage of remanufactured cartridges over OEM cartridges is their significantly cheaper price. Depending on the type of cartridge, you can achieve cost savings of up to 75%, which is not to be sneezed at when some OEM toner cartridges can cost several hundreds of dollars. But don’t just take our word for it, compare our Remanufactured cartridge prices to OEM cartridge prices elsewhere.

Q: How can I help the environment by using Remanufactured cartridges?
A: By reducing waste. According to Planet Ark, a pro-environment organisation, Australians throw away 18 million used cartridges per year, an estimated 80% of which goes directly to landfill. This amount of waste can’t be good, everyone should do their bit to minimise this environmental pollution.

Q: Will I void my printer's warranty by using Remanufactured or Compatible cartridges in it?
A:The typical manufacturer’s warranty says that the use of a non-OEM cartridge does not affect the warranty unless failure or damage is attributable to it. Keep in mind that the ink does not touch any part of the printer or internal parts other than the cartridge and print head. The ink is applied to the paper as the paper is fed through the printer. The same applies to toner cartridges.

Also, let’s just think about this… Major printer manufacturers sell printers at or below cost. They make their profits from selling the cartridges. In the past, once you bought your expensive new printer you had no choice but to buy one of their cartridges after yours ran dry. By using remanufactured and compatible cartridges you are cutting into their primary source of profit and, therefore, they will threaten to void your warranty. They are simply trying to protect their own interests any way they can. But it is illegal for them to void your warranty simply for using remanufactured or compatible cartridges. There is no reason why you should not use remanufactured or compatible cartridges - they work and will SAVE YOU MONEY – lots of it.

We've sold hundreds of remanufactured laser toners and compatible ink cartridges and never had an incident where a customer's warranty was "voided" from using our products.
